It is important to change your IP with a proxy if you want to reach full privacy on the web. Read this article about the importance of proxies.
In Kameleo v1.3 the fully functioning Built-in proxy management was introduced. With this function you can set up Kameleo easily to connect the web thru proxies. Hostname, port, username and password can be set inside Kameleo app as you can connect to different type of proxies:
- Http / Https
Direct connection / No proxy:
By default Kameleo will connect without any Proxy. You IP won’t be handled by Kameleo. Basically it will be your PC’s IP.
If you are using a VPN you can change your IP then in Kameleo you can select this Direct connection.
If you are using Proxifier you will also have to select Direct here.
If you select Socks4A, you can connect to any Socks4A proxy.
This case you can select the Hostname and the Port. Authentication (username, password) is not supported in this protocol.
Nowadays SOCKS4A proxies are not popular.
If you select Socks5, you can connect to any Socks5 proxy. This is the most common use case.
This case you can select the Hostname, Port and optionally Username and Password. Leave them blank if they are not required. With Socks5 you can also change DNS resoultion settings. Read in our article.
If you select Http, you can connect to any Http or Https proxy.
This case you can select the Hostname and the port. If authorization is required your browser will prompt you. We are suggesting you to use Socks5 proxies instead of Https proxies.
If you select SSH, you can connect to the web thru any cheap VPS for that you have SSH access.
This case you can select the Hostname, Port and optionally Username and Password. With SSH you can also change DNS resolution settings. Read in our article.
