There are two different ways to determine time:
- Local time (based on the IP address)
Kameleo spoofs the System Time, but if you want to reach 100% anonymity you will need to choose a timezone that fits the IP address’s location’s timezone. Read more about this in the article about 100% anonimity.
If you select the correct timezone for you IP you will get 100% anonymity.
Daylight saving time
Note: you have to think also about daylight saving time. It messes things up a little bit, but if you read this below you will understand.
Let’s say you want to have a profile in San Antonio, Texas. Here you can check the timezone of San Antonio: https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/usa/san-antonio
San Antonio is in the (UTC-06:00) Central Time (US & Canada) timezone. This is how it is officially called. You also see it in the Windows Timezone settings.
Note that this naming convention is a bit confusing since San Antonio has DST (Daylight Saving Time). It means that during the year the local time is changed by 1 hour. During the American summer the time in San Antonio, Texas is UTC-05 but it is still in the UTC-06:00 Central Time (US & Canada) timezone. This can be very confusing.
For example right now (9th May) I check San Antonio’s timezone. It says it is UTC-5.
If I now set (UTC-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada) my timezone will be just spoofed with UTC-4 hours because of the DST. So in this case I selected the wrong timezone.
Be careful because even the Vip72 Socks Client can trick you. Here it shows UTC-05 again. But the correct timezone is UTC-06.
For your convenience we implemented little helper tools. You can find the timezone selectors in the Tools menu.
It will help you to always find the correct timezone.
